Pros and cons of hearing aids with rechargeable batteries

Hearing aids these days are powered by either one of two types of batteries: Traditional Zinc Air Disposable batteries or rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries.

What is are the differences between each?

Rechargeable hearing aids have a built-in lithium-ion battery that cannot be removed. Instead of removing the batteries themselves, you dock your hearing aids each night on a charging unit, similar to how smartphones recharge. Traditional disposable batteries in non-rechargeable hearing aids can be replaced at any time.

I forgot to charge!

You should really recharge your Injoy’s every night. But if you forget, make sure to have a portable charger on hand. You don’t want to be caught in a situation when you need your hearing aids and you don’t have any power. It only takes about 30 minutes to get you 3 hours of wearing time.

 Non-Rechargeable or Traditional Batteries – PROS & CONS

One week

Injoy aids with traditional batteries lasts about 6-7 days, if you open the battery door at night. This allows the aid to power down. So wake up, close the battery door, Injoy hearing, and remember to open the battery door each night.

I need power

Traditional batteries add a battery door or an opening on the hearing aid that can sometimes collect moisture and render the hearing aid inoperable.
